Australia installed shark nets at Sydney beaches way back in 1937!

After a deadly string of attacks in the 1930s, NSW deployed the world's first government-mandated shark safety nets. Lulu's Law echoes that legacy β€” using modern tech to warn beachgoers of nearby sharks.

Lulu's Law mirrors AMBER Alert, created after a 1996 child abduction.

AMBER Alert launched in Arlington, TX after 9-year-old Amber Hagerman was kidnapped and killed, becoming federal law in 2003. Lulu's Law applies that same community-alert model to warn beachgoers of nearby sharks.
