Ebola is named after a river in D.R. Congo where it was first found.

The Ebola River is near Yambuku, DRC, where the virus was first identified in 1976. The DRC has since recorded more Ebola outbreaks than any other country — over 14 since that first discovery.

The U.S. brokered an Israel-Lebanon deal in 1983 — that Lebanon never ratified.
