As CEO of Columbia/HCA in the 1990s, Scott oversaw 340+ hospitals. He resigned in 1997 amid a federal fraud investigation that ended in a record $1.7B government settlement — then pivoted to Florida politics.

Sen. Tillis earned his college degree at age 36, while working full time.

Tillis attended Belmont Abbey College in NC while employed full time, graduating at 36. He later became Speaker of the NC House before winning his U.S. Senate seat in 2014.
