Candidates can remain on ballots even after suspending campaigns.
In most U.S. states, including Maine, there is no mechanism to remove a candidate's name from a printed ballot once the filing deadline has passed — meaning suspended candidates can still receive votes on Election Day.
The Houses of Parliament burned down in 1834 & had to be rebuilt!
The blaze started when workers burned obsolete wooden tally sticks used as tax records. Architect Charles Barry's Gothic Revival rebuild took over 30 years, with the iconic clock tower finished in 1859.
