Friendship was the best part of elementary school.
“What was the best part of elementary school? Dude. What wasn’t the best part of elementary? OK, so I got two answers. This is the first answer. Looking back after currently in my master’s program, looking back, what I appreciate about elementary school back then. So I was in a public school, shouts out to my school, ER Dickson Elementary School, in Mobile, Alabama. I think it was the greatest school in the county, greatest elementary school in the county. I was just so blessed to be there. I always had friends. There was only one fight, one fight, in my entire six years from kindergarten to fifth grade in my elementary school, and it was like a big thing. The coaches, staff, faculty was super involved, and they made sure, the two kids that had the fight, make sure not to do that. Taught them what friendship was all about, all of this anime stuff and all that where it actually worked in real life. The thing I look back and appreciate on is that I didn't have any bullies. I didn't have to think about who’s my friend or not. As a kid in elementary school, you just went out there and made friends at the playground, and you always had someone to hang out with. So the friendship portion, that was the best part of elementary school, no bullies. When I grew up, middle school? I got bullied a lot, to the point that I got trauma from it. Elementary school is that I appreciate, looking back, that it had no bullies, and everybody was my friend. For the second part of my answer, situationally the best part, when I was a kid, actively, I will say I loved that every day was an event. PE, it wasn't just run a lap around the track. It was something like that, but it was always a fun way, there's always those fun games and those nostalgic games that you would play in PE, that little red, yellow, blue, green thing. You guys probably know what I’m talking about when you hear of it. It’s like this tent thing. Nobody remembers what game this was, but it was like this tent thing that we would all pick up and hold up and all of that. You remember it, but nobody else knows what this game was, but it was the fun thing that I remember back as a kid. It’s like all the activities we used to do, and you're just so appreciative of it back then. And I just thank my elementary school for being so creative in terms of that.”
