QOTD #00008: “What book or movie has impacted you the most?”

“Movie and book that influenced me the most was Fight Club. There's something about that movie that really struck a chord with me. I don't know. I couldn't really put my finger on this dissonance that I had inside me. Listening to Fight Club, it was just- it really hit the nail on the head. It was that pointless consumer culture instead of going after what you really want.”

“I watched Treasure Planet from Disney on repeat as a kid. Um, it has influenced me. I'm literally staring at a grad cap that has lyrics from the song in that movie and it taught me that I could have adventure, regardless of what my past was.”

“I'd say this book called 'When Breath Becomes Air'; because it just touched me so much it was- It's about cancer, and it's one of the first biographies I've ever read, and the man was just so humble and he showed me a new perspective, saying that, you know, 'why not him? Why not him to get the cancer' and it's just so tough. ”

“I would say a movie that impacted my life the most would be Grease. I really enjoyed musicals and they really introduced me to a whole new world, no pun intended. I really liked the movie. I think it's very cool and...”

“Honestly, I'd have to say the Bible. Growing up Catholic, it's been a part of my life and even, you know, as a young child all the way through adulthood, whether you're faithful or not, it's probably shaped a lot of discussions when it comes to religion and people's beliefs all the way-”

“A book that's impacted me a lot is 'You are a Badass' by Jen Sincero . Oh , it just kind of taught me that I don't need to take life so seriously and to just have fun with it and take risks .”

“Book that has inspired me a lot is Grant Cardone, The 10X Rule. So if you haven't read the book, just know that I'm not gonna spoil it for you, but he gave you a lot of different steps on how to achieve financial freedom.”

“So one of the movies that has actually impacted me the most was actually the movie 'Interstellar,' and honestly, I am a science and space freak, and 'Interstellar' just kind of opened my mind as to, you know, how much we don't know about space and science, you know?”

“It's a book and a movie at the same time, because I grew up reading the graphic novelization of The Empire Strikes Back, before I ever saw the movie. And then eventually I saw the movie and figured out what everybody sounded like, but boy did I enjoy the cartoon graphic novel version of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker for a long time - and then was only overjoyed when I learned what they were kind of really like on the screen.”

“Green Eggs and Ham. That has had the- by far, influenced me more than any other book.”

He was a man on death row for 40 years who was found innocent and exonerated and his lawyer was Bryan Stevenson and impacted me a lot because it made me see how flawed our justice system is, and, um, boosted me into wanting to be-”

“I think that the books that impacted me the most were the Little House in the Big Woods series, because those are the books that I remember like reading first with my dad. So I think that was like a big part in our relationship, and I guess you take some of Pa's lessons to heart as you go through life.”

I loved all her movies. I loved rom coms and it- and I loved Pretty Woman and I was like, "I'm going to be an actor. Like, that's what I'm gonna do. That's what I'm gonna do." So Pretty Woman, like, set the stage for, like, my entire life because I wanted to be just like Julia Roberts. And also any Disney movie because they always tell you to shoot for the dreams, so any Disney movies got it.”

“The movie that impacted me the most is probably any of the Star Wars movies. It was my dad's favorite movie before he passed, and so I'll go back and watch it every now and then, just to feel closer to him.”

“So, to be honest, I'm not really much of a book or movie person. But I do love TV shows, and I have to say one of the shows that I really love most is probably Bojack Horseman. I think it's a fantastic show that really talks about important things through cartoon characters, which is just awesome.”

“The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran is a wonderful poetry book that has influenced my life in so many ways . You can find a topic on anything going on in your life and get wonderful advice from that book .”

“Honestly, guys if you've heard or are seeing the movie Founder by what Ray Kroc or something like that is the main character - the guy that created McDonald's. But It just shows you that you can truly do anything that you want to do. Um, not really speaking to that he did screw over a lot of people , but the story remains true.”

“I think the movie that is influenced my life the most is actually Lord of the Rings, and it's just because it's such an integral part of my family. I have four brothers so all of us just connect around the Lord of the Rings.”

“This is a very short book. And I mean like 60 pages, but it's called chasing failure written by Ryan Leak. He's somebody who have admired for a few years now, but what he did essentially said, If what everyone has in common is failure, successful or unsuccessful people, then we might as well run directly towards what that thing is. That scares us the most.”

“Um, this might sound a little corny, but I Was most influenced as a child by legally blonde. Um, I saw a young girl pursuing her dreams and was like I want to do that. I want to be a lawyer. I want to go to Harvard. I want to do all these things. And do what, You know The men tell me, I can't do And then I realized when I was in my teens that I didn't want to be a lawyer, and I didn't want to go to Harvard. I wanted to be Reese Witherspoon and I wanted to be an actor. Um, so that was a hard realization for my father to face that I wasn't going to be making a lot of money . But that movie was very inspirational for me because I was able to finally see a girl in a place of power who was just like, yes, I'm going to do what I want to do, and I don't care what everybody else says.”
