What we do in life echoes in eternity! Russell Crowe stars as Maximus Decimus Meridius, a powerful Roman general who becomes a slave when the corrupt Emperor Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) murders his family and leaves him for dead. Forced to become a gladiator, Maximus rises through the ranks of the arena to avenge the murders of his wife and son.
