A struggle for bare backs (and bare sandwiches).
“I once had a a summer job where, uh, we worked for the county digging thistles, which, for anyone who doesn't know, is a a noxious weed that's spiny and it hurts when it falls on your bare back, which most of our backs were bare most of the time because we did the work shirtless because we were 17 and it was the middle of July in Nebraska. Uh, we would sleep on the tailgate of the pickup that hauled us between stops, and one time my coworker, Dean, stole my lunch and made fun of my sandwich because it was deli meat and cheese without mayo or any kind of sandwich dressing. Yeah, low-class.”
