QOTD: “What is one thing your parents taught you that you will pass down to your kids?”

Certifiably Cool

Find happiness in the here and now

“Okay, so something that my parents passed down to me that I'll pass to my kids is to let go of the idea that I I'll be happy when... So, like, you know, 'I'll be happy when I lose weight, when I have this nice car, when I have a house.' Like, that's great - have big goals, dream big, you know? But - and also, enjoy today. Enjoy the process, um, not, 'Oh, I I have to do this first, and I have to do that first to get to my happiness.' No, you get to do it, so be excited about your first step. Be excited about today and, you know, the mistakes you make are are gonna be silly later, and they're actually probably gonna turn out to be some of your best memories. So, um, yeah, that's what my parents told me, and I just want to keep that going 'cuz it's really brought me a lot of joy.”
