Just a man
My dog was a dog before I adopted him, so he knows.
“"Do you think your dog thinks you're a dog, or does it think it's a person?" You know, I don't think my dog thinks either. I have a pretty smart dog, I'd say, and I think he definitely understands that there's differences between us, just like he understands that a squirrel is different from him, and he understands that a deer is different from him and a bird is different from him, and I'm different from him. I think that that's pretty understandable. I think my dog understands it. But, you know, if I had to take one stand, I think that my dog probably thinks he was a dog because he was a dog before he was adopted by a human. So he probably thinks that I'm a dog - if anything - 'cuz dogs are what he first knew. It's like the story of "what came first, the chicken or the egg?" To him, he's a dog. "What came first, the dog or the human?" The dog came first. So I'm pretty sure that my dog thinks that I'm a person but understands -- but I would say that if he really didn't understand, then maybe I'm a dog in his eyes.”
